How It Works

More than housing.
A coordinated path to recovery.

SafeSide Foundation doesn't just provide a place to stay. We fund and coordinate an integrated support system built around the whole person: housing stability, clinical care, peer connection, and practical resources, so that recovery has a real chance to take hold.

We remove the financial barrier first.

For many people entering recovery, housing is the most immediate obstacle. Without a stable place to live, clinical treatment and peer support can't do their job. SafeSide Foundation provides housing through city shelters, and raises and administers grant funding and donations to provide need-based housing scholarships in recovery homes — covering Phase 1 housing costs so that finances aren't what stands between someone and a fresh start.

Recovery home scholarship recipients go through a brief financial needs application process. Awards are based on demonstrated need, not on personal history or background.

Connect.

We coordinate care, not just services.

Housing alone doesn't create recovery. That's why SafeSide Foundation coordinates with a network of vetted clinical providers, peer support specialists, and community organizations to make sure every resident has access to the care they need.

During Phase 1 programming, residents participate in regular individual therapy, peer coaching, and in some cases Intensive Outpatient Programs delivered by providers who communicate regularly and work as a unified care team.

Residents have the right to choose their own providers, and the Foundation supports that process through referrals and coordination.

Recovery doesn't end after 90 days. As residents complete Phase 1 and move toward independence, the Foundation continues to coordinate wraparound supports that reduce the everyday friction that can derail progress.

This may include transit assistance, connections to food banks and clothing resources, benefits navigation for Medicaid and SNAP, GED programs, IT and Technology, and other employment readiness support as residents transition toward work or school.
