Why We're Here
SafeSide’s peer recovery coaches provide street outreach, shelter-based engagement, and recovery navigation across Metro Denver. Our teams meet people where they already are, including day shelters, navigation centers, court settings, parking lots, and community outreach locations.
SafeSide Recovery currently sustains much of this work through Medicaid and organizational resources. SafeSide Foundation helps stabilize and expand the program when Medicaid funding is uncertain or does not cover the full cost of reaching people in the community.
Foundation support funds the non-reimbursable work that makes recovery possible, including street outreach, trust-building, engagement supplies, transportation, identification documents, and other immediate barriers to care.

What We're Doing
Here’s how SafeSide is helping across Metro Denver:
Meeting People Where They Are: Providing consistent peer recovery coach coverage inside partner sites and through street and parking-lot outreach.
Building Trusted Relationships: Using lived experience and repeated contact to engage people who may not respond to traditional referrals, brochures, or hotlines.
Connecting People to Care: Helping individuals access Medicaid, detox, treatment, medications for opioid use disorder, behavioral health care, and other recovery services.
Navigating Housing Options: Connecting people with recovery housing, sober living, shelter, and other housing resources through agencies across Metro Denver.
Removing Immediate Barriers: Helping with identification documents, transportation, appointments, applications, and other practical needs that can delay access to care.
Supporting Long-Term Recovery: Maintaining the same peer relationship as clients move among shelters, treatment, housing, employment, and community-based recovery services.
